We all know what a “topknot” is, and most long coated breeds will occasionally wear one at home, if not be required to have one in the show ring. A “bloused topknot” is the loose and full topknot one might see on a show Shih Tzu, and these are harder to create than one might think. That said, a multitude of “sins” can be disguised by clever grooming, and we’re told that an “over the top” bloused topknot can be used to disguise the lack of a foreskull. It could also simply be indicative of an inexperienced groomer, and that’s why it’s always important to get one’s hands on a dog to properly assess it.
