To our knowledge, the last time a purebred dog appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated was on August 10, 20

15 when  Mississippi State “Bulldogs” quarterback, Dak Prescott, held a Bulldog. That was the year an AP Poll ranked the Bulldogs No. 1 and the Rebels No. 3, and Prescott was a favorite to win the Heisman Trophy (he lost out to Alabama running back, Derrick Henry).  The Bulldog, however, didn’t belong to Prescott (and we’re still researching who the dog is!)  At that time, Prescott, owned Pit Bull named “Legend,” and had a yellow Labrador Retriever before that.
