Pretzel the Dachshund

Who remembers “Pretzel the Dachshund?”

The story created by Margret Rey (Curious George) in 1944 begins with the line, “One morning in May, five little Dachshunds were born.” One of those puppies was “Pretzel” who grew to be such an extraordinarily long dog that he could twist himself into the shape of a pretzel. He was so long that he won a blue ribbon at a dog show (evidently, that judge didn’t read the standard). The story was republished by Houghton Mifflin in 1997 and remains a classic.
